“I borrowed an axe and went down to the woods by Walden Pond, nearest to where I intended to build my house, and began to cut down some tall, arrowy white pines, still in their youth, for timber.” (Walden). Being able to have a plan, put yourself to work, and have a good end result is a skill I don't have. For many, I am sure they would think that they would be able to do this all by themselves, but I am also sure it is a fallacy for anyone who claims to be able to do this in our grade. Thoreau has a intellect that I strive to obtain. Maybe it was just the number of years he had on me, but I really don't think I would be able to do what he did.
Overall, Thoreau's 'experiment' was a success. Also writing a book about it, is an inspiration to me. People can do amazing things. And I hope I can have an experience where I put everything on the line, and in the end, it works out.
